CHAIRMAN'S BIOGRAPHY
RU Academy is honored to have Professor Nik Abdullah Nik Mohamed taking on the role of Chairman. Professor Dr.-Ing.Nik Abdullah Nik Mohamed is currently a Visiting Professor with a teaching contract at UCSI University and was previously a Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology, University of Malaysia Pahang (UMP).
Prof. Nik Abdullah graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Applied Science Munich, Germany (1979), and obtained his PhD (Dr.-Ing.) in 1991 from the Technical University of Berlin, where he served as a research and teaching associate from 1985 to 1992.
In Malaysia, Prof. Nik Abdullah began his academic career at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1992 and continued his service at UMP in 2013. His academic contributions include appointments as a visiting lecturer at Kyoto University in Japan and the Mercator University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.
Additionally, Prof. Nik Abdullah has served as a member of the Board of Directors at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and as an advisor to the TVET Empowerment Committee under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
His research focuses on the application of continuum mechanics to describe the mechanical and thermodynamic properties of materials, particularly smart materials, auxetic materials, and bulk metallic glasses. He is also actively involved in mechanical vibration and reliability engineering research.
Prof. Nik Abdullah has published over 150 research papers, authored four book chapters, and written three books. His wealth of experience and expertise will guide RU Academy in achieving new milestones and advancing technical and vocational education in Malaysia.
